Dear Members of the Mangalorean Catholic Community of Calgary,
Greetings to you all in the love and peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
It is a great joy and privilege to accompany you and help build our community on Gospel values. Over the past six years, I have had the blessing of journeying with you, and I have witnessed your remarkable growth in faith, unity, and maturity.
Our goal is clear—to become more like Christ in our daily lives. We all have family responsibilities, work commitments, and the challenges of everyday life. Yet, despite these demands, you have generously come together to build a vibrant and faith-filled community for our children, youth, adults, and seniors.
Our mission is to remain connected to our roots by cherishing our faith, traditions, language, and culture. Let us continue to welcome new families with warmth and kindness. Let us open our hearts in generosity to those who may be struggling. As we celebrate together—whether in our spiritual gatherings or cultural events—let us serve not for personal recognition or glory, but always for the greater glory of God.
The Acts of the Apostles reminds us:
“The whole group of believers was one in heart and soul.” (Acts 4:32)
May the Holy Spirit continue to unite and strengthen us. May God’s presence among us inspires us to forgive one another’s shortcomings, support one another with compassion, and grow together as one family in Christ.
Let us always remember the words of St. Paul:“
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
(Colossians 3:14)
May this love be the foundation of our community, guiding all that we do, so that together we may reflect Christ’s love and bring glory to God.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Jerald D’Souza, OCD
